DAVISON, Mich.—May 25, 2016: Fernco, Inc and Source One Environmental (S1E) have moved their manufacturing and distribution center to a brand-new facility located in Davison, Mich. Continuing the companies’ commitment to the Davison community and businesses, the new 150,000 sq. ft. facility is located a mile from the Fernco and S1E office headquarters.
“Finally bringing Fernco and Source One Environmental together, under this state-of-the-art building has been a long-time dream come true for our owners and our employees,” said Mark Cooper, President of Fernco.
Established in 1964, Fernco humbly began in a Master Plumber’s garage with a patent of the ‘Donut.’ Fernco began to work closely with wholesale distributors to ensure products were manufactured and delivered quickly to meet customer demand. After more experimentation, Fernco introduced the first Fernco flexible coupling to the market in 1973 with a bid from Dallas, TX.
S1E, a Fernco company, began in 2009 with a desire to provide innovative support to municipalities, contractors and plumbers in the water management and infrastructure rehabilitation markets. Founded on the idea that the industry needed inventive solutions, PipePatch® was launched in the market as a No-Dig pipe repair system with other solutions to follow.
“Fernco and Source One Environmental are proud to providing plumbing solutions for over fifty-one years, and we do not plan on leaving,” Cooper said.
Expanding throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, South America and Central America, the companies needed more space in order to focus on product development and excellent customer service. As a function of their continued growth and international footprint, the new facility is an additional step in expanding Fernco and S1E’s ability to be the source for all plumbing, water management and infrastructure rehabilitation needs.
Beginning the planning process in 2014, construction of the building began in the winter of 2015. In Oct. 2015, the companies celebrated the building’s grand opening to congratulate the employees, customers and factory representatives for their dedication and hard-work throughout the years.
The new 150,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and distribution facility features new technology and lean processes to improve productivity. Housing new state-of-the-art electric injection machines and robotic equipment, Fernco has reduced cycle times and dramatically increased both production and shipping capacity by 15%.
“This allows both brands to capitalize on the synergies of technology, procurement, productivity and people, and to our customers, who will continue to see the highest levels of quality and customer service,” Cooper said.
With the added space, Fernco and S1E have the flexibility to focus on new product lines to meet industry demand.
Positioned for future growth, Fernco and S1E will continue to add to their teams and product offerings while providing outstanding customer support. Fernco and S1E look forward to continuing their excellent track-record of developing and delivering customer demands in the new manufacturing and distribution center.
